PC doesn't detect audio devices connected directly to the motherboard on KDE Neon 20.04

I recently updated my KDE Neon to 20.04, and audio from the motherboard doesn’t get detected. It does, however, detect the one from the GPU.

Is there a way to do fix this so that I don’t have to run # alsa force-reload every boot. I can have it autorun, but I’d prefer to have this fixed.

Here’s my system info:

  • Operating System: KDE neon Testing Edition
  • KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.3
  • KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0
  • Qt Version: 5.14.2
  • Kernel Version: 5.4.0-7634-generic
  • OS Type: 64-bit
  • Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz
  • Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM
  • Graphics Processor: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2
  • Motherboard: MSI H170 Gaming M3

Found someone on reddit that’s experiencing that same issue. I also posted it on Stack Exchange.

it might be related to a snd_hda_intel kernel module issue, I had this issue before on the 5.4 mainland kernel though the way I solved it was by using the 5.6 kernel.

Well, let’s hope it gets fixed soon, then.

Any idea how to report bugs to Pop!_OS?

I guess here:

Thanks! Didn’t think of reporting it there.

It looks like you filed a bug for KDE Neon on the Pop_OS! github. You probably wanted the KDE Bugzilla instead.

That was probably my fault. I read Pop OS and OP asked for it but it is true, the thread is about Neon. Sorry for that.

But the problem is related to the kernel or the kernel module.

The kernel is from Pop!_OS’s repo, so I reported it there.
