Advice on home storage

Hello,

I’m looking for advice on linux-friendly options for home network storage.
The purpose/requirements would be to:

Backup selected data (For example: current work projects)
Share administrative documents within the household, from PCs/ mobile
Not consume too much power, transfer data fast (On Gb network)

  • “WD My Cloud Home 2TB” - might work - but these consumer brands typically do not provide software for Linux?
  • A Raspberry Pi with large hard drive attached and suitable software?
  • A device (Pi?) that can host NextCloud?

If you’d like an SBC with a M.2 slot there’s a list here:

NextCloud will fit that bill pretty well if you want something easy to administer.
