About the Asus track/num pad

Hello,

I need a new laptop, I am looking possibly at this category of Asus,
Vivobook I think they call it, anyway, here is the link,

So, that strange combo of the trackpap doubleing as the numpad seems
practical, but I am gonna guess that is going to have driver issues on Linux,

If anyone here owns an Asus with that feature, I would like to know how you feel about using it under Linux.

Thanks.

Advanced touchpad features are often handled on a BIOS/chip level so all the OS sees is basic devices doing basic things. If I wagered a guess it’s that it won’t need drivers but that’s definitely a guess.

That is defiantly an interesting design. @mattdln has a lot of experience with strange hardware.

This is all I have been able to find as it relates to the numberpad/touchpad combo on asus machines and its current status with Linux. Do note this is under Ubuntu and Ubuntu-based Distros. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1810183
